You might be wondering, “Is there a program that I can live in a sharehouse at a low rent…?”
First of all, sharehouse’s rent is cheap, and many sharehouses offer a good deal, such as “free rent.” However, it’s challenging to get a discount on the rent itself.
So, we have launched our original “Fellowship Program.” In this program, we pay our resident who helps manage our sharehouses ¥3,000 per time and ¥10,000 in addition to ¥3,000 if someone decides to move in after a house viewing.
There’s no limit to the number of times. It’s possible for you to help us until your rent becomes totally free.
It’s probably still hard to imagine that you can actually get a discount on rent.
So, in this article, we explain the following.
・Details of the fellowship program and the tasks you will be asked to perform
・The amount that will be reduced if you utilize the fellowship program
・Reason why we started the fellowship program
・People who we recommend to utilize the program
Also, we introduce the characteristics of Hidamari, and the sharehouses eligible for the fellowship program at the end of this article, so please refer to it as well.
The fellowship program is a program that gives a discount on rent to the residents who help us run our sharehouses.
The fellowship program is a program that gives a discount on rent to the residents who help us run the Hidamari’s sharehouses. This is for people living in our sharehouses, and you will be asked to help with the works you can do.
In the first place, “fellow” means “colleagues/partners.” The program has started as a way for the residents to help each other.
If you take part in the program, it doesn’t mean you will be asked to work for us all the time. You can take part whenever you have enough time, such as day-offs and small pockets of time.
This program is Hidamari’s original. There are no other sharehouses that offer this kind of program, which is fascinating.
A list of works that we ask in the program
For example, we ask the following works in the program.
・House viewing with people who want to move in a sharehouse
・On-site witness for people who want to move out
・Taking care of companies/contractors, e.g., cleaning companies
・Regularly go check sharehouses
・Taking photos of events
*Please note that we no longer offer tasks, such as translation and taking photos of our sharehouses.
¥3,000 per time for tasks, such as on-site witness for house viewing and someone moving in/out, and taking care of companies/contractors. If a person who you take care of his/her house viewing decides to move in, you’ll get ¥10,000 in addition to ¥3,000.
You can use the program until your rent is free.
How much do you actually get a discount on rent through the program?
For example, you take care of house viewing for three people, and two of them decide to move in. In that case,
・House viewing: ¥9,000 (¥3,000 x 3 people)
・The number of people who decide to move in: ¥20,000 (¥10,000 x 2 people)
Total = ¥29,000
In addition to the above, if you regularly go check sharehouses, the total would be ¥40,000 ~ ¥50,000. One of the residents helped us until the total amount become her rent.
Also, besides the program, we ask a resident in a sharehouse to take out the garbage. We pay a support fee to the resident, and this case is similar to the program.
Reason why we have launched the fellowship program
The reason why we have launched the fellowship program is “We want everyone living in our sharehouse to make the most of their time at the sharehouse.”
In many cases, people who have moved in our sharehouses stand at the crossroads of life. For example, they move in for a new job, or they want to expand their friendship for a better future.
So, many of them meet people who they have never met before in the past. Through those unique encounters, sometimes they get a new perspective in life.
However, in 2020, some of you might have lost your job, or some of you had to go back where you were born due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even during this difficult situation, we thought we could ease the burden on the residents if they help each other.
Moreover, a new independent community may arise, or relationships among the residents can go deeper by having a role in the community/society. While the program is still in the experimental stage, we believe that a sharehouse life will become fun and interesting through the program.
People who we recommend utilizing the program
The program is recommended for people in the following situations.
・People who just moved from a countryside to the metropolitan area
・People who want to try something new
・People who live in a sharehouse for a job change or to make the first step for self-dependence
Also, please feel free to contact us if you lost a job due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
What is Sharehouse Hidamari that has launched the fellowship program?
Please let us introduce ourselves, Hidamari, a little bit.
Sharehouse Hidamari is a management company for the sharehouses, mainly in Kanto and Kyushu area. We provide fully renovated and clean sharehouses for ¥40,000~¥60,000 per month.
One of our characteristics is that you can have a community beyond your relationship with family and friends.
First, you can enjoy a life that you can’t have while living on your own. For example, a life with “I’m home” and “Welcome home” or with a time talking to others after work.
People living in our sharehouses have different backgrounds, such as circumstances, jobs, and lifestyles. In many cases, you start living with people you have never met, which becomes an opportunity to step in a new environment.
